Home Learning - 21.4.20

Tuesday 21th April 2020

Good morning to you all. I hope you enjoyed the learning yesterday and are refreshed and ready for some more fun today.

Phonics

Each day of school closure, the Ruth Miskin team will be uploading a Set 1, Set 2 and Set 3 Speed Sounds lesson video to Youtube. We will be following the Set 1 videos. These will be sounds that your child has learned in class already. You will be recapping these sounds at home which will hopefully give your child a sense of confidence.

Today (21.4.20) the video will be focusing on the sound ‘k’.

After practising writing the sound in your book, please then recap writing the sounds ‘c’ and ‘p’ just as we did last term.

Now can you try writing these three words?

‘Kit’ ‘kip’ 'kiss' (kiss has special friends at the end. 'ss' makes the 's' sound.)

Writing task

\\Viking.lan\DFS$\StaffData$\UserData\edudley-smith\Documents\My Pictures\alfie reading 1.jpgYesterday we started a programme called Talk for Writing. We had a lot of fun reading the story and we even read them to our cats. Our favourite part was when they zoomed around the farm on a broomstick. What was your favourite part of the story? Don’t worry if you can’t remember, have another read to recap what happened in the story.

Yesterday you discussed what was happening in the story, who the characters were and what they looked like. We are so glad that you are talking about the story together, it is so important to discuss your opinions and ideas.

Please find todays Talk for Writing activity attached.

You have been given some ladybird words. The ladybird would like you to match the words with the pictures. Try and read the initial sounds yourself.  We know you will all be so fabulous at this. If you finish that speedily, you could try and write the words down in your home learning book!

Maths

This week we are learning about addition. Today we would like you to go on a treasure hunt around your house to find items that you can add together. For example:

How many doors in your house + how many toilets in your house =

How many chairs in your house + how many tables in your house =

How many animals in your house + how many TV’s in your house=

How many pictures in your house + how many windows in your house =

Well done treasure hunters!

Make sure you record these number sentences in your home learning book.

Challenge

Can you find three items to add together?

How many plants in your house + how many beds in your house+ how many clocks in your house =

Topic

We hope you enjoyed learning the song yesterday.

Today you will be moving your body and following the rhyme in the beanstalk powerpoint.

Challenge

Can you draw or make your own beanstalk? What does a beanstalk needs to make it grow taller? You could write these down and draw some pictures.
