Weekly News
We have had a very busy week in Reception, with lots of exciting new learning happening. First, a big thank you to all of the grandparents who came to eat lunch with their grandchildren. We hope you enjoyed it as much as they did. We look forward to seeing lots of parents next week!
In topic this week we have read, Little Red Riding hood. The children have retold the story in the forest using the correct repeating refrains. They have been exploring what happens when they mix colours and have painted wolves and forests.
In maths we have continued to count on, the children have practised putting the first number in their heads and counting on. Please practise this at home by choosing a number up to 10, and counting on to 20 from the given number. Later in the week, we have been adding two groups of objects together to make a total, using concrete resources.
During busy time, the children have enjoyed building Grandma’s house from Little Red Riding Hood, and have been introducing this story line into their role play.
Next week we will be learning about Chinese New Year. On Thursday (30th) we will be trying some Chinese food in the afternoon. If you would like your child to be able to try some food, please remember to bring in the consent form by Thursday.
Thank you for your support. Have a lovely weekend!
