Christmas Home Learning task

We would like the children to read about Charles Darwin over Christmas. This is linked to our thematic curriculum next term. There is a Myon reading task set for them (see the link below) The children's username and passwords are the same as their AR ones.  Deadline to read this is Thursday 5th Jan 2022.

We would also like the children to continue with their reading and use TTRS.

Messages

We will return to school on Wednesday 4th January. Doors open at 8:30 and school will start at 8:45.

Vikings will have a non-school uniform day on Friday 6th January for winning the house point competition this term.

Sports Project will remain on a Wednesday in term four and PE on a Friday.

We have had an enjoyable final week of 2022. In English, we finished reading Skellig and watched the film of the same name to end the term.

The children enjoyed performing to you all in our Christmas production. It was lovely to see some many of you enjoying the children's last Christmas performance of Primary school.

On Thursday, the children visited St Lawrence church and had the opportunity to ask the vicar many questions about the building and Christianity, linked to our learning in Religious Education. After, they enjoyed a Christmas party filled with fun and games and lots of party food.

Next Term

In English, we will be reading the test of 'Leon and the Place between' by Grahame Baker-Smith. This is a wonderful text where the children will be writing character descriptions, focussing on the qualities that each character brings to the book.  As well as ambitious vocabulary, the children will continue to understand how figurative language can add detail and create imagery for a reader.

In Maths, we will be identifying the properties of 2D shapes and then drawing 2-D shapes given dimensions and angles. Will will be learning the different types of lines

Our thematic curriculum next term is ‘Darwin’s Delights’. We will begin by studying maps and locations of continents, countries and capital cities.

We hope that you have a very restful holiday, enjoy time with your families and we look forward to seeing you all in 2023.
