English
This week, the children have researched and written their own non-chronological report about palm oil. Formal tone, technical language, ambitious punctuation, paragraphs and subheadings were all included in the children’s reports. The children also included images with captions, a glossary and a summary. We finished our Year 6 text, Kensuke’s Kingdom, this week and next week, the children will be starting a new text called Rose Blanche. This new text continues alongside their thematic topic - Paths to Peace (WWII).
Maths
We have focussed this week on problem-solving using all four operations. Next week the children will be using their maths knowledge to solve problems, play games and retrieve sticky knowledge.
Thematic:
This week the children have used their geography and history knowledge to learn about the importance of ports and harbours around the world. They have also researched trade, importing, exporting and different economies.
Home learning:
We have given the children a MOAOM maths and a MOAOM PaG sheet for them to complete! Can they please complete this and return it to their teacher.
