Ramsgate Tunnels School Trip  – Wednesday 13^th March

The children will visit the Ramsgate Tunnels. The cost for this trip is £3. A permission form has been sent to all Year 6 families.  Payment is available online on MCAS.

World Book Day Thursday 7^th March 2024  

This year's World Book Day theme will be bedtime stories / reading for pleasure.  We invite children to share their favourite bedtime story book on this day and if they wish, come to school dressed in their bedtime clothing!  Children are invited to dress up as their favourite character from a book if they prefer another option.  We would like to remind families that there is no expectation for you to spend money on costumes.  An enjoyment of reading and sharing a story is our main aim for World Book Day this year.   

The Chilton Masked Reader 

This year, we will share Chilton Masked Reader videos for World Book Day.  These videos will be created by our talented members of staff who will read a story without revelling their faces.  We hope our Chilton families will enjoy the stories and guess who the masked readers are! Links to these videos will be available on all school Blogs.  

Book Fayre 

The Chilton Book Fayre will arrive on Monday 11^th March and run until Friday 15^th March outside the Year 5 classrooms. World Book Day book vouchers can be spent at the fayre. Cash and online payments are also available and a percentage of the monies raised will go towards funding more books for Chilton children.

English

This week the children have continued to write their newspaper reports linked to their current test – Kensuke’s Kingdom.  To show their journalistic skills, Year 6 reported on an event that happened during their Sports Slam sessions where Miss Isaac faked a fall! (See pictures). The children will move on to diary entries next week.

Maths

The children have this week been revising previously learnt skills and next week, Year 6 will return to four operations and problem-solving.

Thematic

This week the children have studied sources in history and if we can trust them. They have also learnt about propaganda and how it was used during WW2.  The children will be visiting the Ramsgate Tunnels in March.  Please see above for details.

Home Learning:

Spellings: through, rough, enough, thorough, dough, tough, trough, although, ought, brought.

Task: To complete the MOAOM maths and MOAOM PaG sheet.  The children will come home with this task for them to complete and bring back into the school.
