Important notices:

  • Year 6 SATs breakfast club begins on Tuesday 2nd May. Our classroom doors will be open from 8am onwards and this is free to all Year 6 children. We look forward to seeing all the children then. Please see previous email from Mrs Law regarding this or please ask us if you have any questions.

  • There is a non-uniform day for Vikings on Wednesday 3rd May. Well done Vikings for winning the House Point competition this term.

English:

This week, we read the end of the story of Michael and Kensuke in Kensuke’s Kingdom. We spent time talking about what we have enjoyed and what we thought could be improved.

Next week, we will be exploring themes of the book through art and outdoor activities.  We will be using paints, natural materials and also mixed media in our artwork.

Maths:

This week, the children have spent time recapping previous learning and working hard to find ways to help them remember key skills and knowledge. Here are some of the areas of Maths we have been revising: the relationship between fractions, decimals and percentage; how to find missing angles and multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000.

Next week, we will continue to spend time focusing on the areas of Maths the children feel least confident in. This will be different for all 3 Maths groups.

Afternoon lessons:

This week, we read a book called “The Island” and talked in depth about its themes and messages. From these discussions, we created artwork to explore our PSHE project this term entitled “Be Here, Be You, Belong”.

Next week, we will be continuing to be exploring what it means to belong. We will spend time discussing questions about our class: Why are you so great together? Why are you proud to be a part of your class team? Why are you grateful to be a part of the team? What do you bring to the team? What do others bring to the team?
