Weekly News 28/3/24
We have had an exciting last week of term in Year 3! Thank you for all of your support with Roman Day costumes and Come Dine on Wednesday.
English
In English this week, we have continued to write from viewpoints. We have focused on using the past tense, verbs and adverbs to write a recount of a gladiator battle in the Colosseum. We have been so impressed with the children’s writing this term and the vocabulary that they are using. We look forward to seeing this continue to progress next term in our study of ‘Charlotte’s Web’.
Maths
This week we have continued our learning on solving problems using the four operations by moving on to focus on multiplication and division problems. We have been using written methods to support our accuracy in solving calculations. Next term we will be learning to estimate and represent numbers up to 1000 in words and numerals, using dienes to support our understanding.
Thematic
On Monday, we celebrated our Roman Day. This was great fun as we wrote a recount of a chariot race, learnt about Roman numerals and did some painting to represent these, completed a Roman-themed PAG lesson and invited Year 4 to our classrooms to show the children our wonderful learning from this term. Thank you so much for all of your efforts with costumes, the children looked amazing and enjoyed their day!
For the rest of the week, we looked at our RE study of Judaism. We learnt about Jewish beliefs and the festival of Passover, including the Seder Plate.
Home Learning
For Easter, there will be no home learning set, however, we would love for the children to explore MyOn and the wonderful books online. The login for MyOn is the same as the children’s AR login.
