Year 3 News!
Final week next week, hasn’t it gone by so quickly!!
Maths
This week we have been learning about time. We have been practising reading analogue clocks once again including reading times to the nearest five minutes and even to the nearest minute. We practised them in our books and also made big clocks on the playground and were the arms of the clock pointing to times that were shouted out.
Thematic
This week we finished our topic on Rainforests. We looked at the purpose of seeds and the different ways that they can spread. After that, we completed our end of term kahoot quiz and did really well. We ended up recapping our knowledge of the different types of deforestation that can happen, what the tubes in the plant can do and finally what the root hairs do. You’ve done a fantastic job this term, really well done!
English
In English, we used our knowledge of rainforests from Thematic to make a non-chronological report about the rainforests of the world. We looked at the animals that you can find there, where the rainforests are, what the layer of the rainforest are as well as deforestation. We made sure there were titles, technical vocabulary, subtitles, paragraphs and pictures with captions. They came out really well!
Home learning
Write a letter to the Year 2’s telling them what Year 3 is like and what they think the Year 2’s should look forward to!
