Weekly News! 10.05.24
What a fantastic week Team Aqua and Team Topaz have had!
Maths
This week in Maths, we have been looking at volume and capacity. At the beginning of the week, we used different containers, beakers and bottles to measure in millilitres and litres. Later in the week we compared different items using litres and millilitres to solve problems. On Friday we looked at temperatures using thermometers in Celsius.
Next week we will be looking at time!
Fact of the week!
Next week our Fact of the Week is 2 X 10 = 20
English
This week in English we started a new book The Lonely Beast by Chris Judge. This week we have looked at expanded noun phrases, exciting verbs and adverb and co-ordinating conjunctions. For example,
The Lonely Beast decided to embark on a long journey to find other Beasts so he packed a huge bag and left his comfortable home.
Next week we will continue our book The Lonely Beast by Chris Judge and focusing on time conjunctions.
Guided Reading
This week in Guided Reading we started the week predicting who the characters could be in the book using the front cover as a clue to help us answer the questions. Next, we chose our 4 favourite parts in the story and drew them in chronological order. Finally, we used dictionaries to help us clarify any of the words in the text we did not understand.
Thematic
This week in Thematic we continued to be designers! This week we have learnt how to join fabric together by sewing, glueing and stapling. Today we learnt how to finish a piece of work by decorating it with fabric crayons, stitching patterns, sequins, ribbons and buttons.
Next week we will be designing and making our own hand puppets!
