Year 2 Assembly

We would like to say a huge thank you for coming to our Year 2 assembly on Thursday.

Non – uniform for Vikings

Vikings have won the house points this term and will have their non-uniform on Thursday.

Maths

This week in maths we have continued fractions. We began the week by using bar models to show fractions.

We then made a fraction wall to help us with our learning.

We then had to solve fraction problems using Charlie crocodile (<, > or =)

 

Later in the week we began to place fractions on a number line.

Next week in maths we will be looking at Geometry position and direction.

Fact of the week!

Next week our Fact of the Week is 5 X 5 = 25

This week in English we have started a new book ‘How Bees Make Honey’ by Louise Spilsbury. We began the week by walking around the room looking at different bee facts and taking notes of key vocabulary. Next, we looked at co-ordinating and subordinating conjunctions to add more detail and lengthen sentences. We then looked at writing questions for our sub-headings and answering them with statements.

Next week in English we will be continuing the book How Bees Make Honey and using all our skills we have learnt this week to write a non-chronological report.

Guided Reading

This week in Guided Reading we began our new non-fiction book How Bees Make Honey by Louise Spilsbury. We then looked at the difference between fiction and non-fiction texts.

Thematic

This week in Thematic we finished our unit ‘Nurturing Nurses’ and completed a quiz on our unit. On Thursday we started our R.E lessons and learnt what Judaism is and what Jews believe. On Friday we then looked at how the Torah began.  

Next week we will continue our R.E lessons and learn about some of the stories in the Torah.
