Welcome back! Term 1 September 2023
Welcome back all to Term 1!
We hope you are all relaxed, recharged, and ready to get stuck in to term 1.
We can’t wait to see you all on Monday 4th September and welcome you in on your first official day of Year 1.
Just a few messages and dates for you to remember…
PE this term will be on a Wednesday
Doors will continue to open in the morning at 8:30am. Registration will be at the slightly earlier time of 8:45am (doors close at this time)
Mrs Reavill will be teaching Team Peacock every Tuesday.
Reading
Read at 3 - Every Friday at 3 our doors will be open for you to come in and read with your child, please note, this will be for the full 15 minutes and children should not leave any earlier. Their books will be set up and ready for you to come in and enjoy listening to their wonderful reading. (Except for Friday 15th September)
This year there will be a slight change to their reading books. All children will bring home two books, one being a RWI home book. Children are expected to read this three times during the week to ensure they are building on their reading fluency. The RWI home books will be changed, by an adult every Friday. The other book they take home, will be changed independently by the child themselves. (This will be taught during their first week back) If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
Please listen to your child read as much as possible at home and record this in their reading records. Every week, one child from each class will receive a reading certificate in our Chilton Heroes assembly and there are also individual class prizes to be won for e:)
Dates to remember...
Friday 15th September – To start off our new thematic topic this term ‘My home, my town’ we would love to invite all grandparents in at 2.30. We would love for them to discuss what life was like for them as a child. How has technology changed? How has the environment has changed? What was their daily routine like? How does it differ from ours now? What were the vehicles like? If they would like to bring in any pictures from their past or an object to help them discuss these points that would be wonderful! We can’t wait to hear all about their lives growing up.
Love to Learn
Love to Learn – On the first day back all children will be given a love to learn book. This is for their home learning, which will be set weekly. Their first task is to decorate the covers of their love to learn books and bring in/or stick in a picture of themselves as a baby.
Have a restful weekend, and we look forward to Monday!
