One Childhood, One Chance

Year 4 Weekly News 14.7.23

Year 4 have had a great week on which is our last full week as classes!

In English, we have been learning how to write newspaper reports. We have learnt all the features of a newspaper report like headings, pictures, captions, time conjunctions, introductions including the 5W’s and past tense. After learning all these skills, the children then created their own newspaper report on the Mount Vesuvius eruption.

In maths, we have been learning about using all four operations to complete word problems that are linked with length and mass. We have also looked at calculating perimeter and finding area by counting the squares inside shapes.

In our thematic unit 'Earth Shattering events', we have been looking at the history of volcanoes, concentrating on Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii. We looked at an animated video throughout the days events and created a timeline. We also then created an information text on what like was like in Pompeii before the eruption happened.

There will be no love to learn this week and we hope children have a great weekend before transition next week.
