Friday 14th July 2023
We have had a really lovely week in Reception! We cannot believe that it will be our final week with the children next week!
Transition Days
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (17th, 18th and 19th July) will be transition days at Chilton. Please drop your child to their Reception classroom on Monday morning. They will then be collected and dropped off to their new (Year 1) classroom from Monday afternoon until Wednesday afternoon. On Thursday and Friday, they will be based back in their Reception classrooms.
As the children will be in their new classes, there will be no parent reading session on Monday 17th July.
Reading Record Books
Please return reading records and any school reading books as soon as possible. Many thanks!
Plastic bags!
If you haven’t already done so, please send a named plastic bag in to school so that children can bring home all their wonderful learning next week. Thank you!
Maths
This week we have been learning to look for patterns in the world around us (in nature, on wallpaper and in songs) – we have had great fun with this! We have also been making maps. We had to create a map of our route to the library in school and also the route to our new Year 1 classrooms! We had to think about key places/objects we would include on our maps.
Topic
This week we have been reading Harry and his Bucket of Dinosaurs. The children had to predict what they thought would happen in the story and they did some writing around this. The children also became actors and actresses and acted out the story, retelling the main points. To end our topic, we took part in a quiz in teams! The children amazed us with all the things they had remembered about dinosaurs!
Important Dates and reminders:
There will be no PE during the final week of term.
Thursday 20th July will be non-uniform for the whole school as it is our Inflatable Fun Day.
Also a reminder about the last day of term. Our Year 6 children leave the school site slightly earlier than the rest of the school and may have some special transportation arranged to take them away on their last day of primary school. This means that Chilton Lane can get busy and congested and so we ask that parents avoid driving along and parking in Chilton Lane before 1:45.
School finishes at 2pm for all children on Friday 21st July.
