Week beginning Monday 12th June 2023 Team Indigo and Team Royal
What a fantastic week we have had in Team Indigo and Team Royal, take a look at what we have been up to this week….
Maths
This week in maths we have been looking at statistics and how we represent data in different ways. We started the week with collecting the information on what our favourite colour and pet was and put this into a tally chart. We then made a bar chart to represent our data. We have also looked at pictograms, Carroll diagrams and Venn diagrams.
English
This week in English we have written our very own sequel to Grace and Family by Mary Hoffman. We told the story of what happened when Grace visited Gambia for a second time and went on a safari trip. The children watched a video of a safari in Gambia and got some wonderful inspiration for their own stories. Please find the link below: https://www.blackandwhitesafari.com/lion-walk
We focused on sentence openers, and included exciting adjectives in a list, verbs and adverbs to describe the journey to the safari. The children have written some wonderful pieces of writing we are so proud of them all!
Guided Reading
This week in guided reading we created a story map to summarise what happened in the book Grace and Family by Mary Hoffman. We looked at learning to make inferences and used the book to answer the questions below.
Thematic Curriculum
This week we started our art part for out thematic curriculum Ready Steady Sow and Grow. We looked at two artists Vicki Rawlins and Henri Rousseau they both use natural resources to create wonderful artwork. We took inspiration from Vicki Rawlins and created our very own natural self-portraits. Take a look at our fantastic temporary artwork!
Later in the week we became scientists! We looked at what a plant needs to be able to grow and how they stay healthy. We had to complete the sentences below and then we wrote our own sentences explaining why it was so important for the plant.
