This week we continued our Read, Write Inc. lessons. We have been working extremely hard in the run up for our phonics screen, taking place after half term. We have been making sure we spot the special friend first, sound out the word then read/blend it together! Please, please, please keep on reading as much as possible and practising your sounds!
In each reading folder, there is a sound card and list of red words. Any practise with these at home would be extremely helpful and support your child’s reading and writing at home.
Maths
This week in maths we have been focussing on number families and looking at the inverse! Mrs Winchcombe accidentally muddled up three numbers and symbols, we had to find two addition and two subtraction number sentences! We worked so hard and really impressed our teachers!
Next week, we will be looking at solving missing number problems and one step word problems using part whole method.
Thematic lessons
This week we have been continuing our history learning! We learnt all about timelines and sorted a range of toys in chronological order. We ended our history learning by writing how we know the difference between old and new toys and described them. Towards the end of the week, we started our Design Technology lessons by looking at slider and lever toys and planned our own! Next week we will be creating our own moving toys!
PSHE
This week we are focussing on our community! We will be writing and thinking about what we love about Ramsgate!
Love to Learn:
We would love for you to create a timeline of your family and place them in chronological order. This can be presented in any way you wish.

Dates to remember:
Viking Games – Wednesday 24th May – Children should come to school in their PE kits on the day with a t-shirt in their house colour if possible, with trainers. If the weather is hot, children should bring a hat, wear sun cream and have a water bottle with them. If it turns out to be a chilly day, jogging bottoms and a jumper will be needed!
Colour run! – Friday 26th May – Starts at 1.05-1.25. Children wear their old clothes into school and bring a full change of clothes, a towel and a plastic bag for messy clothes to go in. Please enter school through the allotment gate. Once they have run their allotted laps around the track, all children will be taken back to their classroom. Children can then be collected from their classroom straight away. If you do so, we advise you to bring something to cover your car seats!
Term 5 ends – Friday 26th May
Term 6 begins – Tuesday 6th June
We hope you have a great weekend!
