Important notices:

  • Next week is World Book Day (Friday 3rd March).  Children are encouraged to dress up as a character from their favourite book.  There will be various activities happening throughput the day.  A story time activity for all children is available Monday 27th Feb, Tuesday 28th Feb and Wednesday 1st March next week for 15mins in the library after school!

English

This week we started reading our new text: Kensuke’s Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo.  We spent the week planning and writing our own newspaper report about the Morpurgo family sailing around the world.  We focused on the 5Ws (Who, What, Where, When Why), direct and indirect quotes, adverbials of time and bias.  We will continue these writing skills next week.

Maths

This week, the children have learnt how to convert fractions into decimals and then decimals to percentages.  We then moved the children on to find percentages of an amount.

Afternoon lessons:

This week, we revisited our British Values and started our new Thematic Curriculum topic – That’s Shocking!  We explored games and activities that are powered using batteries or electricity and learnt about famous inventors who are important in the world of electricity! We also learnt about how items are powered using mains electricity and batteries and what items use both.  We revisited conductors and insulators also.
