Week beginning 23rd January 2023 Team Indigo and Team Royal
Wow what an incredibly busy week we have had in Team Indigo and Team Royal, take a look at what we have been up to….
Maths
This week in maths we have been continuing our adding and subtracting using the column method to help us with word problems. We then moved on to inverse and how we can use the column subtraction to find the missing number from a written calculation. .e.g. 17 + ? = 38
17 + 21 = 38
Guided Reading
This week in Guided Reading we looked at the front cover of Traction Man is Here by Mini Grey and made a prediction of what the book may be about. We then answered questions and retrieved information from the book. We finished the week by retelling the story through actions and preforming to the class.
RWI/English
This week in English we started a new book called the Traction Man is Here by Mini Grey. To start the week we focused on our reading and writing skills and looked at adjectives, verbs and adverbs to support us when writing character descriptions. We finished the week by making our own top trump cards of our favourite characters from the book.
In RWI this week we have been focusing on building up their fluency when reading, this included their pace, speed, expressions and reading punctuation. Any additional practice at home will be hugely beneficial.
Thematic Curriculum
This term our Topic is Passion for Fashion, we have been designers this week, we had a go at an over stitch. We then designed and created our own mittens!
