W/b Wednesday 3rd January Team Royal and Team Indigo
Happy New Year! We hope you had a wonderful break :)
Thank you very much for all the beautiful and thoughtful cards and gifts we received. Reading your kind words and warmest wishes for the Christmas period and New Year is such a treat so a big thank you!
We have started the term with a bang and have been busy bees! Take a look at what we have been up to.
Guided Reading
This week we have started a brand new subject, Guided Reading. Guided Reading is where we get to read but also work on our reading skills such as prediction, clarifying, questioning and comprehension. This week we have focused on prediction, clarifying vocabulary that we were unsure on and poetry!
English
In English this week we have been looking at The Snail and The Whale by Julia Donaldson. We focused on rhyme and poetry this week. We started the week by identifying rhyming words in the story, then had a go in pairs at writing a rhyming poem and tomorrow we will have a go by ourselves at writing our own rhyming poetry!
Maths
In Maths this week we have focused on Number and Place Value. We started the week by looking at number lines and filling in missing numbers that went up in 1s, 2s, 5s and 10s. We moved our learning on to rounding numbers to the nearest multiple of 10 and then used this learning to answer reasoning problems.
In Maths next week we will be looking at Addition!
Passion for Fashion
This week we started a brand new topic called Passion for Fashion! We started by creating our very own clothing and accessories out of recycling. Take a look at us in action!
For our Art Part, we designed our very own Chilton jumpers. We had a range of materials and resources we could use.
Love to Learn
