Weekly learning 02.12.22
Thank you to all those who were able to attend our healthy snack campaign on Monday. It was lovely to see so many families joining in with the fun and casting their votes for their favourite healthy snack. The children worked very hard on promoting their snack, from designing posters, making suitable packaging and choosing a tasty, healthy ingredient to add to their snack. With a winning total of 16 votes, Amy's healthy snack 'SnackJacks' with pumpkin seeds was a favourite! Well done to all for an amazing campaign!

Term 2 Art competition!
For this Terms art competition, we are asking children to design ANYTHING in the style of Yayoi Kusama. Yayoi Kusama is a Japanese artist, who is sometimes called 'the princess of polka dots'. Although she makes lots of different types of art (paintings, sculptures, performances and installations), they have one thing in common... DOTS!
It is up to you what you design, how you design it or how you would like to present it!
Entries are due in by 9th January. Please pass these on to your class teachers. Enjoy!

English
This week, we first focused on writing in the future tense and varying the future tense forms to make our writing interesting. We then spent the rest of the week studying and writing poetry based on a theme. William Blake was our inspiration for both poetic style and artwork. Please look out for our wintery poems in the school hall!
Next week, we will spend some of our time showing our teachers what we know and we need to learn next by taking part in some assessments. We will also continue to read our text, Skellig.
Maths
Throughout this week, some children have focused on comparing fractions by using either a fraction wall or finding common denominators. Some children then learned how to order fractions with different denominators.
Next week, we will spend some of our time showing our teachers what we know and what we need to learn next by taking some assessments. We will also be learning how to add and subtract fractions, with the same and then different denominators.
Afternoon lessons
This week, we spent some time reviewing what we had learned so far in our thematic lessons and then took part in a Big Quiz! We also made lanterns for the Winter Festival and healthy flapjacks. We hope you enjoyed coming in to both the flapjack tasting session and also the lantern festival. Thank you for all your support at both events!
This week we have a visit from Andy (from Kent Surf School), who is an official CPR and First Aid trainer. He will be working with the children to teach them how to carry out CPR and what to do in an emergency.
We will be using the white t'shirts to show what we have learnt about internal organs and where they are positioned.
