Weekly News W/b Monday 21st November - Team Royal and Team Indigo
We have had a super busy week this week. Not only have we been working hard, we have been getting ready for the Christmas performance ready for 9.15 on Tuesday 13th December.
English
In English this week, we have been looking at writing recipes. We started the week by looking at how to punctuate lists, write commands, use time conjunctions and how all of these skills combined help us to create recipes. We wrote a recipe for a Gruffalo pie – mmm delicious!
In RWI, this week the children have been focusing on building up their fluency when reading. When thinking of fluency we look at pace, speed, expression and reading punctuation.
In Handwriting, we have been getting better and better at our super handwriting. Some of us are practicing our print letters using the RWI patters. I have attached this below. Some of us have started practicing our cursive handwriting. I have also attached this below for your information too.
Maths
In Maths this week, we have been looking at fractions of shapes! We started the week by looking at finding halves, quarters and thirds of a variety of shapes and as the week went on used this knowledge to reason about problems. We looked at problems such as, ‘I’d like the bigger half, is that possible?’. Take a look at us answering reasoning problems with playdough to prove our answers.
Next week we will be looking at statistics. Take a look at the knowledge organiser below to see what we will be getting up to!
Thematic Curriculum – The Greatest Show!
In Topic this week we have become scientists! We have been experimenting and investigating different materials for different uses. We began the beginning of the week by investigating materials which would be suitable for acrobats. We later in the week investigated materials which would be suitable for a big top tent. We used vocabulary like waterproof, colourful, bendy, firm.
