Weekly News
Here's what Year 4 has been up to this week:
Weekly News – 15th February 2019
This week we have been looking at decimals and position. We have worked on how to round decimals as well as comparing and ordering decimal numbers. We learned all about how right angles can help us describe turns. We then moved on to reading, finding and plotting co-ordinates, learning that we need to go along the corridor and up the stairs when reading co-ordinates. We then practised these newfound skills by playing Battleships!
In English, we finished ‘Clockwork’ and were all shocked at the ending! We discussed the fate of one of the protagonists, Karl, and wrote persuasive pieces on whether we thought he deserved to die or not. We then wrote newspaper reports, detailing what happened to Karl and what happened when the new clockwork figures were revealed. Our foci for these newspaper reports were the use of speech.
We have also been working on this term’s RE unit, which is Hinduism. We spoke about the different Hindu Gods and Goddesses and designed our own before learning about the importance of a shrine in Hindu homes and we discussed places that we used when we needed peace and quiet in our homes! Team Aqua learnt some PSHE on Wednesday afternoon and Team Topaz continued working towards earning their laptop licence.
