Weekly News
Thanks to all of Team Aqua and Team Topaz for another amazing week! Here are some of the wonderful things we’ve been up to.
In Maths, we have been focusing on cementing some different skills in a number of exciting ways with different applications. We have looked at how to scale up and down (using recipes), how to divide three digit numbers and how to multiply decimals.
In English, we have been looking at how to write persuasively with focuses on modal verbs, emotive language and using paragraphs to structure our writing. We wrote letters to Mrs Law, persuading her to give Year 4 afternoon breaks, build a swimming pool at Chilton and allow us to wear non uniform! We also continued exploring Phillip Pullman’s ‘Cloclwork’ and debated on whether Karl should or shouldn’t take Sir Ironsoul as his clockwork figure. We then wrote persuasively, in favour of what we thought he should do.
Our new IPC topic ‘Material World’ has really kicked off this week. We have taken part in different experiments, including ones that the children designed themselves, such as testing which materials are magnetic and the properties of different materials. Team Aqua continued with French, learning how to identify different members of their family in French, whilst Team Topaz continued their Computing unit, looking at how to open, use and save their work in Paint 3D.
There is a MyMaths task on short division that has been set, due Weds 6th February. Please see your child’s class teacher if you need help logging in.
