Weekly News 7.1.22
It has been wonderful to welcome back everyone from a well-earned Christmas break! The children have settled in fantastically and worked extremely hard already!
English
To begin the term, we began our new book which is called Tales of Wisdom and Wonder. This is a book with a number of different stories in and the story we started with this week was called Monkey and Papa God. The children began the week by writing in role as the monkey and then retold the story using conjunctions, adverbs, prepositions and different sentence openers.
Maths
This week we have been learning how to round. It began with learning to round to the nearest 10 but moved onto also rounding to the nearest 100 and 1000. We started by drawing number lines and visually being able to tell what number it was closer to but then understood that if the digit was 1,2,3,4 we rounded down and if it was 5,6,7,8,9 we rounded up. We then moved on to counting back into negative numbers.
RE
In RE, we have been learning about Hinduism. The children began to learn about where they worshipped, how they worshipped and what gods or goddesses they worshipped linking it to their own life and beliefs as well.
Love to learn
English
Can the children create their own short story with the same ideas as Monkey and Papa God. However, they need to create their own characters and change the problem and resolution of the story.
Maths
Continue to work on taking away into negative numbers. They can use a number line to help them!

From 8 count back 14
From 3 count back 6.
