Friday 17th December
And so we come to the end of Term 2 and what a fabulous and amazing term it has been. Each and every child should feel proud of all that they have achieved this term. All of the children have been superstars, and it has been a delight to teach them. We hope that you all have a happy, healthy and magical Christmas holidays. Stay safe, and we will see you all in January!
Love to Learn Task:
We have sent home the following Love to Learn task to be completed over the holidays:
At the start of next term our topic will be superheroes! Your challenge over the holidays is to create your very own superhero, deciding what your outfit would look like and what your superpowers would be. We would like you to draw your super hero in your love to learn book with labels and maybe a brief description of what your super hero is like. For example, Mrs Cotton could be Goggle Girl, with the super power of making all children like swimming. Her cape could be blue with a pair of goggles drawn on the back. On Monday 17th January we will be asking the children to come to school dressed as the superhero they have created (the staff will all be dressing up as well). The costume can be as simple or as elaborate as you would like.
Phonics:
The children have been continuing to practise Set 1 sounds. They have been practising writing these sounds and reading and writing words with these sounds in. We will let you know when your child starts to learn Set 2 sounds.
Maths:
This week, we have been learning about patterns. We made a repeating pattern to go on our Christmas cards. We also learned about symmetry and made a symmetrical Christmas tree. The children have learned about working systematically to find all different possibilities.
Topic:
This week we have continued to read the story ‘Blue Penguin’. We learned about the places where penguins live and also thought about what we would need to do to look after a penguin.
Reminders/Dates:
- Any junk modelling or unwanted bed sheets would be gratefully received!
- Children will return to school on Wednesday 5th January.
Take care, best wishes and a very Merry Christmas from all of the EYFS Team!
