One Childhood, One Chance

Year 4 Weekly News 24.9.21

English

During English this week, we have been learning how to write a persuasive brochure about why someone should go to Tobago. We started off by reading a variety of different persuasive texts about Tobago and finished by creating our own. The children found persuading a bit of a struggle at the beginning of the week but the full text pieces we gathered at the end of the week have been amazing!

Maths

This week we have been concentrating on column subtraction. The children had to transfer the skills they had learnt previously with column addition and apply them to subtraction. We also introduced regrouping which they grasped very quickly!

Topic

We continued our new topic, 'Mi Casa et tu Casa'. This week we looked at how we can classify animals. We began by classifying them into invertebrates and vertebrates but then went deeper with classifying them into mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish and birds. We also created our own food chains from producers and consumers. The children really enjoyed learning about which animals the animals ate!

LOVE TO LEARN

Complete these using the column method.

The children were all sent home with a letter on Friday. This letter contains their username and password to log in to AR. After every book the children need to take a quiz to show their understanding of it, this can now be completed from home, the letter explains all!
