One Childhood, One Chance

Weekly News 10.9.21

The Year 4 team have been extremely impressed with how the children have settled in straight away. The Chilton Way and the Chilton values have been followed beautifully.

Maths

This week we have been concentrating on consolidating our place value knowledge. On Monday, we were looking at partitioning 4-digit numbers which moved on to adding 1,10,100 and 1000 more. We finished off the week by comparing and ordering 4-digit numbers.

English

We continued with our book called ‘Gregory Cool’ where the children wrote a number of different diary entries and letters from Gregory to his parents. At the beginning of the week, Gregory was extremely unhappy and homesick about being in Tobago. However, by the end of the book his viewpoint on Tobago had completely changed.

PSHE

This week in PSHE we have been looking at the book called ‘The invisible boy’. The book is about a boy called Brian who is always left on his own, he never gets picked for sports and no one wants to sit with him at lunch. We concentrated on the things we could do to include Brian, how we could be a good friend to Brian and how we create good friendships in school.

Notices and reminders:

Year 4's additional sports session is now on a WEDNESDAY. The children will need to wear their trainers into school but should be in their school uniform.

Love to Learn

This week, we would like the children to continue having a go at ordering numbers. They can pick any 4-digit numbers they like and order them from largest to the smallest.

For English, we would like the children to concentrate on capital letters and full stops. Can they rewrite these sentences in their books without any mistakes!

Have a fantastic weekend,

The Year 4 Team
