Weekly News - 3/9/21
What a wonderful start we have had to the school year! It was wonderful to welcome Year 4's smiling, happy faces on Thursday. Even those that came in a little nervous were full of smiles by breaktime! We hope you have all had a wonderful summer and are ready for this new year of amazing learning!
Maths
We are kicking off the year with our place value knowledge. We will be moving into 4-digit numbers and consolidating our understanding of the value of each digit within a number. We used our base 10 to get a firm understanding and will move on to comparing and ordering larger numbers.
English
We have begun our book, 'Gregory Cool' which is about a boy that visits his family in Tobago. We are going to be focusing on viewpoint, using our vocabulary to show how Gregory feels throughout the story. We wrote fantastic descriptive pieces using emotive vocabulary about Gregory's arrival in the Caribbean.
PSHE
We have been reminding ourselves of the Chilton Way this week - our rules and values. We know our three rules:
- Be Safe
- Be Ready
- Be Kind
We are going to be using the book, 'The invisible boy' to explore themes of friendship and identity.
Notices and reminders:
- Year 4's additional sports session is now on a WEDNESDAY. The children will need to wear their trainers into school but should be in their school uniform.
- PE will be on a THURSDAY. Children need to be in their school PE kits (black or blue shorts or joggers, white top)
- Music will be on a Tuesday afternoon
Love to Learn
The children can decorate their home learning books this week!
Have a fantastic weekend,
The Year 4 Team
