Year 3 Weekly News - 1.4.21
What a term it has been for Year 3 - We cannot state enough how proud we are of the way the children transitioned back into classroom learning. We have been so impressed with their resilience and hard work, but what we have noticed recently is wonderful acts of kindness towards one another. They have worked so well together as a team and support each other as friends and peers. Being back together has been incredible. We hope you all have a restful Easter holiday.
Maths
This week we have been continuing our learning of time. The children have gained huge confidence with this and they have got so good at telling the time. They were able to use both digital and analogue clocks and were able to go into 24 hours. It would be fantastic if the children continued to practise telling the time at home on both digital and analogue clocks. It's been great seeing the children using their watches accurately and they can now tell us exactly how long it is until lunchtime and home time!!
English
This week we learnt how to write a completely new genre - play scripts! We turned our story, 'Lila and the Secret of Rain' into a play. We focused on making sure we chose appropriate vocabulary for our stage directions so that our actors knew how to say their lines. We have loved learning with this book.
Next term we will be learning through 'Charlotte's Web' - a beautiful book that we know the children will love!
Topic
Thank you to everyone for the amazing costumes to end our topic - May the Force be with you! The children have really improved their science knowledge and developed fantastic DT skills making their magnetic games and space buggies.
Reminders:
The first day of term is no longer an inset day - we will be welcoming the children back on the Monday!
Have a fantastic break,
The Year 3 Team.
