Year 3 Weekly News - 11th December
What a wonderful festive week we have enjoyed! Our class parties were so much fun. Thank you so much for providing snacks for the children to enjoy. So what else have Year 3 been up to? Read below!
English
This week we have been learning to write letters. We used the story, 'Gorilla' and pretended we were different people from the story to help us write in first person. We learnt the features of an informal letter and applied them into our own wriiting. In SPAG we learnt how to use subordinate clauses and we also put these in our letters too. We have loved reading Anthony Browne books this term!
Maths
This week we have been learning all about money. We recapped our understanding of coin values and then learnt how to add and subtract to find totals and give change. This was quite a tricky topic but we will revisit it later in the year. If possible, practise finding amounts with coins at home.
French
Over the last few weeks, Year 3 have been learning simple French phrases. This week we had a Christmas focus. I wonder if we can remember any of the names?
Topic
This week we have continued learning about the body and focused on the EYE! We learnt about how we see and started to explore light and how it travels.
Home Learning
As many of our learners will be working remotely next week and the children have been working SO hard this term, home learning will be spending as much time with family as possible! Oh, and of course, READ, READ, READ!
Additional information
A huge thank you for your generous Christmas gifts. It is incredibly thoughtful of you!
The Christmas shop continues to run next week for final purchases.
