Weekly Blog - Friday 2nd October
English
This week we finished the story of 'The Prinicess and the White Bear King' We have been writing our own sequals based on the Troll Queen's revenge and really put our imagination to the test! We learnt how to use a range of time and place phrases to help move our story on and continued to develop our use of vocabulary and sentences with expanded noun phrases. We are also learning to answer questions by finding information in a story.
Next week we start our new story, 'The Green Ship'.
Maths
We have learnt how to use written and mental methods to add and subtract over the last two weeks. We can confidently use the column method and can exchange and regroup in the tens and hundreds. Next week we will begin learning about multiplication.
We are able to practice using TTRS three times a week and have lots of times tables starters in lessons to help us learn them!
Topic
Our new topic is 'Island life'. We began with Geography and have learnt that WE live on an island! We learnt about the four nations and could label them on a map of the UK. We then found major cities and towns. We located the UK in the world and was able to learn and locate the 7 continents. We are a bit obsessed with listening to the continents song! Next week we will begin to create our own maps using a compass and learning how to use 4 digit grid references.
