Thursday 11th June
Good morning, Team Peacock and Team Azure,
Happy Thursday to you all. It has been fantastic seeing your learning added to the padlet - please continue to do so as we love seeing your happy faces and BRILLIANT work.
Maths
Today you will be solving word problems using converting. Remember that units of measurements have different conversions so make sure you multiply and divide carefully. Here is a link to an online slider that you can use (the same one we would use in class )https://www.numeracyhelper.com/pvslider/
THIS CHART WILL HELP YOU! Check out the amount of 0s - our place holders - to help you see how many places to move your slider left or right. Eg. 23kg into g... move 23 three places to the left. Fill in your missing gaps with place holders (0s)
There is a mild seperate sheet and for spicy and hot there are a lot of questions - you DO NOT need to do all of these! Pick a few to practise the skill.
English
Today you are going to create a non-chronological report about a dragon. There are lots of additional resources to help you with this lesson - the most important is the Powerpoint that says THURS - Dragons. That will lead you through the task. There is a great word mat to use too.
Topic
Time for some research! You are great at this!
Select an animal of your choice and research the answers to the following questions:
- Do the eggs grow inside or outside the mother?
- Where does the mother choose to lay her eggs and why?
- How many eggs are produced and how are they fertilised?
- What happens inside the egg?
- How is the egg part of the animal’s life cycle?
Writing Competition.
Thank you for all your entries to the competition so far, Mr McAuley has been inundated with entries. However, all good things must come to an end. Friday (12th) is the final deadline for entries to be with Mr McAuley, so please make sure they are sent to him by 13:00 on Friday to guarantee your entry to the competition.
Mr McAuley and Martyn Harvey will then be pouring through entries to whittle it down and find the eventual winners and runner-ups. To give them time to go through them all and organise prizes in these challenging times, please wait for further announcements in terms of when and how prizes will be given.
Thank you all so much for your participation, and its still not too late to get your final entries in.
Finally...
Last week you explored your identity and belonging. This raised some very important issues and made us consider what is going on around the world with racial and cultural inequality. Below is a document called 'Seeing in Colour' with some fantastic resources to access as a family to continue the discussion and learning.
Have a wonderful Thursday,
Mrs Gale and Mr Abel
