Each day of school closure, the Ruth Miskin team will be uploading a Set 1, Set 2 and Set 3 Speed Sounds lesson video to Youtube. We will be following the Set 1 videos. These will be sounds that your child has learned in class already. You will be recapping these sounds at home which will hopefully give your child a sense of confidence.

Today (8.6.20) the video will be focusing on the sound ‘i’.
After practicing writing the sound in your book, please then recap writing the sounds ‘g’ and ‘b’ just as we did last term.
Now can you try writing these three words?

Alternatively, you can recap the sound ‘i’ with your child yourself.
Use or create some flashcards to practise ‘i’ and some of the previous sounds. Now practise writing ‘in’ ‘is’ ‘lip’.

Writing task.
Write about your weekend. Think about something you did that you really enjoyed. What was your favourite meal over the weekend? Did you help anyone at home to do something? Did you make something? Remember a capital letter at the beginning and a full stop at the end of your sentence.
Maths
Practice writing your numbers to 10. Do this without any help of you can. Is there a number you found hard or couldn’t quite remember? I want you to see if you can practice writing the numbers you found tricky try practicing these using any form you like such as bright colouring pens or chalks.
Maths Challenge
If you could write numbers 1-10 try practicing 11-20. Again you can do this in any form you wish.
Topic
Today you are going to list all of the things you will need on your very own pirate ship. Think about what might be useful when your sailing across the sea. Write these down as we are going to use it tomorrow!

Pirates love treasure. You are going to imagine you have found a treasure chest and inside are all of your favourite things.
Draw the items that are inside your treasure chest and label them.

If I were a pirate I would wear a black pirates hat and a stripy top.

Writing task
This week you have been imagining yourself as a pirate and you have thought about what you would pack in your treasure chest. Today I want you to think of a good place to hide your treasure chest. It could be in your home, in our classroom or in one of your favourite parks. Can you write a set of instructions that will tell you where to find your treasure chest!
For example, my treasure chest is hidden in a black bag in the shed.
To find my treasure chest you will need to go to the back garden. Walk towards the shed. Check that the coast is clear! Open the shed. Turn to the left, bend down and open the black bag. Inside you will find my treasure!

These are your crew mates for your ship. Crew mates are pirates that help one another on the ship and follow the captain’s orders. Draw your crew mates and colour them in. Give them each a name and write it down. Can you write 3 adjectives (describing words) to describe what they are like?
