This week we will be reading a book called Air Raid. We can all access it through Oxford owl. When you visit the site for the first time you will need to click on the button that says 'My class login' It is pink with a little owl on it! Then log in with the following details:

You should get a bookshelf. Click on this and search for Air Raid if the link above does not take you directly to it.
Today you will need to read Chapter 1 and answer the comprehension questions attached.
SPELLING: Also on this website are some fantastic spelling resources. They match the children's spelling scheme from school so they will recognise the format. The children can choose the level that is appropriate for them. (Some will be accessing Y5 spelling rules)

Topic
We are continuing with Active Planet and have got an awesome home learning task for you to complete today! We will be looking at earthquakes this week and are starting with a technology task. We would like you to design and make your own 'earthquake-proof' building. Your earthquake proof building should be:
- Flexible or bendy at its base so that it moves when the ground moves
- Symmetrical so that the forces acting on the building are equal, e.g. L and T shapes twist and distort so are not suitable
- Without ornamentation so that it causes less damage to people if it does fall
- Lower to the ground so that it doesn’t topple easily
- Strong at the joints so that it doesn’t fall apart when shaken
You will then need to test your buildings using a 'shake test'! Ensure that you have planned a fair test. Here are some links that may be useful:
