Phonics

Each day of school closure, the Ruth Miskin team will be uploading a Set 1, Set 2 and Set 3 Speed Sounds lesson video to Youtube. We will be following the Set 1 videos. These will be sounds that your child has learned in class already. Today (5.5.20) the video will be focusing on the sound ‘y’.

After practising writing the sound in your book, please then recap writing the sounds ‘v’ and ‘j’.

Now can you try writing these three words?

‘yet’ ‘yes’ ‘yum’’

If you want to try something other than the YouTube videos:

Practice saying the sound ‘y’. What words can you think of that have the ‘y’ sound in? Now make the sound ‘y’ with your body.

Practice writing the sound ‘y’ and these three words:

‘yet’ ‘yes’ ‘yum’’

(use your favourite colour!)

 

Writing activity

Read through the letter with your adult. When you have read through, can you make your own potion in a bowl using your favourite things! Mix it up and say the magic words…

Challenge:

Can you write down a spell for your potion! Write it down so you can always remember it.

 

 

Maths

Yesterday we did very well sharing different items equally. Today you will be doing this using the even wheel spinner!

Spin the wheel and draw the amount in dots on a piece of paper. Then draw two circles and share the dots into the circles. It should look something like this:

Topic

Yesterday you helped George in his garden. Now I want you to make your own garden. Today you will start by making the grass and soil. You could make this inside a shoe box or cereal box. You could use real grass and soil or you could colour it in, you can be as creative as you like.

Tomorrow we will be adding to our garden!
