Home Learning - Day 5 - 27.3.20
Home Learning Day 5 - 27.3.20
Welcome to day 5. You have done so well this week!
Good Morning Reception,
Here are your challenges for home learning today:
Phonics:
Todays sound is ‘qu’.
You say: ‘qu’
They say ‘qu’
Repeat.
You say ‘qu – qu – qu –queen’
They say ‘qu – qu – qu –queen’
Show them the picture of the Read Write Inc ‘qu’ (see blog post picture. You can also find this on your Chilton Handwriting Patter sheet.) Tell your child the patter ‘down the worm, up the work, down the worm, up the worm.’ Have your child practice writing it in the air. Now they can practice writing a line of ‘qu’s on their writing sheet. We recap 2 handwriting patters every day. Today our recap sounds are ‘y’ and ‘w’. Again, please refer to your handwriting patter sheet. Now it is time to practice oral blending.
You say ‘qu’ ‘i’ ‘t’.
They say ‘quit’.
You say ‘qu’ ‘i’ ‘t’ ‘quit’
They say ‘qu’ ‘i’ ‘t’ ‘quit’
Repeat with the words ‘yum’ and ‘wig’.
Now they can practice writing those words onto the yellow lines.
Please see your home learning resource pack for the handwriting patters, sounds and phrases and red words.
Don't forget to read your book or access some of the online reading links.
We follow the Read Write Inc scheme of work from Ruth Miskin. RWI are making speed sound videos which are available for 2 hours every day from 9.30. This would be a great way of starting your phonics lesson. Please see link - https://www.ruthmiskin.com/en/find-out-more/help-during-school-closure/
Maths: For maths today, we would like you to begin to measure distance. With you child, please measure in between two objects or places. For example, walking to your bedroom from your bathroom, or to your oven from your fridge. You can measure using a non-standard unit, such as, footsteps or pieces of paper. Please encourage your child to use the correct language linked to distance, e.g. close, near, far, further, nearer and distance.
Challenge: Can you describe the distance between two objects to your parent or carer?
Topic:
Today in topic, we would like you to listen to some of the stories listed below and discuss the different characters. To end the week we would like you to use objects in your house to make a superhero den, this can be done from using anything as simple as two chairs and a bedsheet. Please encourage your child to play in the den.
