Weekly News- Friday 6.12.19
Another busy and fabulous week for Year 1! Many thanks to the parents who have supported the children to learn their lines for the Nativity at home - we really appreciate your help. Lots of the children are still unsure about what they need to say, so please could you continue to practise, practise, practise at home as we are only a few days away from the performance!
In maths this week, the children have been learning to name and describe 2D shapes (e.g. circle, triangle, square, oblong, pentagon)using sides and corners. They have also been naming and starting to describe 3D shapes (e.g. cone, cube, cuboid, cylinder, pyramid etc) using faces, edges and vertices. The children have also been describing and continuing patterns using shapes.
Our topic 'A Day in the Life' has come to an end this week. This week we learned about jobs that people had in the past (e.g. chimney sweep). The children had to write a diary entry pretending they had this job. The children also thought about jobs which may exist in the future and created ID badges for these jobs. For our exit point, the children had to pretend they were chefs and designed and decorated biscuits.
We hope that the parents who joined us on Thursday for Come Dine With Me enjoyed their lunch and that it has started to make you feel festive!
