- A polite reminder that PE kit consists of a white T-shirt and a black or navy jogging bottoms and jumper.  Long hair should be tied back with an appropriate hair band.

Summer Fair: 

We will be holding our annual school summer fair on Friday 23rd June from 3.15-5.oo pm. The event, run by our amazing Chilton Fundraisers, is a wonderful community event for all our staff and families to enjoy.

This year we will have a wide range of fun activities for you all to enjoy including;

Bouncy Castle, Inflatable bungee course, Go-Karts, Ice cream van, soak the teacher, beat the keeper, hook a duck, tin can alley, nerf gun target, raffles, tombola and much more.

As part of the event we need just a little bit of help from our families. On Friday 16th June, we will send a white bag home with each child. We ask that your child decorates the bag and fills it with some goodies (sweets, chocolates, books, pens, pencils, small games etc). Please can these be brought back into school on Friday 23rd June, to be sold at the fair.

On Friday 16th June, we will also be inviting the children to wear non-school uniform, in exchange for fair donations. We will ask KS2 children to bring a bottle for our tombola stall. Reception and KS1 children we ask that you provide 1 prize for our raffle. This year we are doing a rainbow raffle and ask the children bring a prize that matches their house colour e.g. red romans bring a red prize and so on. We will bundle your donations to make rainbow raffle prize.  Finally, if anyone in our parent community would like to hold a stall of their own, whether it be to sell crafts, plants, cakes or anything similar please email Mrs Cheshire at hannah.cheshire@chiltonprimary.co.uk. We will be charging £10 a pitch.

Dates for the diary:

Thursday 22nd June - Class Photos – children to come in full uniform with their swimming kit to change in to (swimming is in the afternoon)

· Between Wednesday 5th and Friday 7th July – Secondary School transition days (please check with schools for individual arrangements).

· Monday 10th July – Key Stage Two Sports Day (morning)

· Monday 17th July – Wednesday 19th July – Transition Project with our Sports Team (children can come to school in their own sports-wear for these three days. Activities for these days are currently being organised)

· Thursday 20th July – Year 6 Leavers’ Inflatable Fun Party on the school field – 3:30 – 6:00 (children will need to bring a change of clothes with them for the party. Children should be collected at 6:00 from the school field. If your child has permission to walk home unaccompanied after the party, please could you contact class teachers and make this explicit in writing (david.wheeler@chiltonprimary.co.uk , helen.rowlan-hill@chiltonprimary.co.uk )

· Friday 21st July – Year 6 Graduation (parents invited) on the school field for a 9:45 start.

This week, the children have been writing narratives for the BFG and a video called 'Pere LaChaise', where a little girl runs through a famous French cemetery to have piano lessons with Alfred Chopin!  We focused on figurative language and a shift in formality to write creatively.  

In Maths, we were very artistic to show reflection, translation and finding co-ordinates.  We created some reflection art using mirrors and tessellated shapes to form a pattern.  Towards the end of the week, we played a game of Battleships to demonstrate co-ordinates.

   

   

In PSHE this week, we have considered what makes a good life.  The children came up with a range of thought-provoking ideas: happiness, sunshine, friends, strong bonds, education, a job we enjoy.  We also debated whether money makes us happy.  From this, we talked about our aspirations and discussed what we wanted to do when we are older.  This moved into a lesson about hurtful words and how we feel when someone says nasty things to us.

Next week, the children will begin a new text, 'The London Eye Mystery'.  This is an exciting book where the reader is kept in suspense throughout the humorous adventure which centres around the London Eye.  Ted and his sister follow up clues to solve the inexplicable disappearance of their cousin.  We will start by finding out information about the London Eye and the capital city itself.

In Maths, we will continue to challenge ourselves in completing sequences and, from that, calculate the term-to-term rule.  Our Term 6 problem solving is generalising and conjecturing.

In the afternoon sessions next week, we will be learning how people express their faiths in RE; programming an Hour of Code in computing; introducing pocket money in French and; perspective drawing in Art.

For Love to Learn this week, to help with your future English work, we would like you to research idioms.  An idiom is a group of words that have a meaning not deducible from those of the individual words (e.g. over the moon; raining cats and dogs).  You can present this any way you wish.
