Love to Learn:

MyMaths activities that are linked with this week’s learning.

Children to continue reading four times a week.

Children to be learning times tables (TTRS or other appropriate tasks-the teacher can provide you with materials for this).

We would like the children to be practising their spellings at home that they are getting incorrect at school (these should be in their yellow spelling log books which we’ve told the children to put in their reading record folder).

For this Terms art competition, we are asking children to design ANYTHING in the style of Yayoi Kusama.  Yayoi Kusama is a Japanese artist who is sometimes called 'the princess of polka dots'. Although she makes lots of different types of art – paintings, sculptures, performances and installations – they have one thing in common, DOTS!

It is up to you what you design, how you design it or how you would like to present it!

Entries are due in by 9th January – Please pass these on to your class teachers. Enjoy!

This Week:

In maths, the children worked on bar charts and time graphs. Once we understood how to draw them, we then interpreted data from bar charts and time graphs.

In English, we spent the week creating our own narrative based on the Ice Palace structure. Children created their own characters, own settings and own problems linked to what happened to Ivan.

In Topic, we focused on the mummification process, we mummified tomato’s by following an Egyptian step by step guide. We also created our own canopic jars out of clay that would have had all of our tomato’s organs inside. They look amazing!

Next Week:

In maths, the children will be exploring perimeter and data.

In English, we will be looking at winter poetry.

In our afternoon sessions, we will be having a go at some Egyptian weaving and looking at creating our own Egyptian death masks.
