One Childhood, One Chance

Weekly News w/b Monday 17th October - Team Royal and Team Indigo

What a superb term Year 2 have had! We have had so much fun :)

Harvest Festival

A huge thank you to all of the grown ups that came to see us present the Harvest Festival. The children did amazingly well and the songs are well and truly stuck in our brains. We hope you enjoyed our version of 'shotgun'! Thank you very much for all of your kind donations too. The food will be being delivered tomorrow to the Thanet Food Bank.

English/RWI

This week we have reassessed the Year 2 children and after half-term there will be some movement in groups. We are so proud of how well the children have done this term, they have taken Year 2 in their stride and really given it their all.

Maths

In Maths this week, we have been focusing on time. We have been looking at the times o'clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to. We have been drawing times, reading times and even making our very own clocks too. Make sure to test us out because as we've been saying all week practice makes perfect!

After half time we will be looking at geometry - 2D shapes! Take a look at the Maths language we will be using

RE

This week in Religious Education, we have been focusing on Teachers and Leaders.

We learnt the importance of teachers and leaders when looking at different religions, how important their roles are but also how difficult they can be too.

Love to Learn

For Love to Learn this week we have 2 challenges!

1) For the children to complete an AR quiz.

Top tip - these do not just have to be school books. When you log onto AR you can search any book that you might have at home as they may have a quiz too!

2) To create a circus prop! When we return from half term, we will be starting a new topic called The Greatest Show! As a hook to start off the topic, we will be having a talent show. Although the prop does not need to be for the talent show, if the children would like to use it they are more than welcome to! This could be juggling balls, a pretend ring of fire, a strong man weight, absolutely anything. Be as creative as you like! We can't wait to see your creations :)

Read at 3

Next term reading at 3 will continue. Thank you to all the grown-ups that have attended so far.We welcome you all to come to hear your child Read at 3 if you can every Wednesday. Please note this is for the full 15 minutes and children will be unable to leave any earlier. The children will be ready for you to come and hear their wonderful reading at 3.

Other News

Monday is our Sports Project day. Please can children still wear their full school uniform with trainers.

Tuesday is our P.E day. Please can the children come to school in their P.E kit. Just a reminder this should be blue or black shorts/trousers and a plain white top.

Doors will continue to open in the morning at 8:30am. Registration will be at the slightly earlier time of 8:45am (doors close at this time).

As the weather is beginning to get colder please can children bring in a coat which is clearly named.

We are also fortunate enough to have a woodland area at school where we can learn and explore and a playground that can accumulate many puddles. Please if you can could your child bring in wellies that are named in a bag. We have facilities where they can be kept at school.
