Love to Learn

There will be no Love to Learn over the half term. Enjoy the break and we look forward to seeing you in Term 2.

This Week:

In maths, the children worked on telling the time using 12 hour analogue and digital time. Later in the week, the started to learn how to convert between units of time.

In English, the children wrote a persuasive brochure detailing why someone should venture to Trinidad and Tobago. The skills used included using modal verbs, persuasive language and using cohesive devices.

In RE, the children learnt about the religion of Sikhism where they have understood some of the history of the religion and important teachings. They then looked at naming ceremonies and wedding ceremonies.

Term 2, Week 1:

In maths, the children will start their work on fractions. They will identify equivalent fractions pictorially and then move on to comparing fractions.

In English, a new text will be started called ‘The Ice Palace’ by Robert Swindells. The children will write a setting description and a diary entry to understand the initial descriptions in the text. Figurative language and conjunctions will be focused on.

Our new Topic, ‘Walk Like an Egyptian’ will be started where our ‘Hook’ will be to become archaeologists for the afternoon, exploring different artefacts and to try to decipher what they tell us about the Ancient Egyptian period. Later in the week, the children will explore ‘Death Masks’ and create their own forms of art work based on these.
